Hey guys in this post I wanna discuss my favorite special character, Inquisitor Coteaz.
Okay so lets have a brief summary shall we?
For 100pts we get...Artificer armour, master crafted Nemesis Daemonhammer, bolt pistol, frag and krak grenades, psyk out grenades, and...a psyber eagle...let's call him Patchy, named after the puppet bird on those spongebob specials.
Anyhoo, lets look at those special rules shall we? He gets Stubborn, Aura of Faith, and he's a Psyker Mastery Level 2 with the Hammerhand, Sanctuary, and Mindblade powers.
He can also do things none of the other characters can do.
He's got Spy Network, allowing you to reroll the dice to seize the initiative-even if its the opponent's dice roll.
He can also allow his unit that he's attached to shoot at an enemy who arrives from reserves within 12" of him. There's also no limit to how many times the unit he's attached to can shoot with this rule.
He also allows you to take warbands as Troops so he's pretty cool with me and powergamers alike.
You could put him with a purgation squad with psycannons, or a warband with Jokaeros so you can shoot down enemies from reserves. You can get some servo skulls and utilize the deployment against deepstrikers that try to come down near your deployment. You can use the servo skulls to block them out and the only place they can come down is where Coteaz is if used correctly, but that's if the opponent is willing enough to deepstrike near him. The servo skulls can also serve as a weapon too if you gotta Techmarine with an Orbital Relay so you can set up a defensive position and bombard the enemy each turn. Sanctuary is handy for speedbumping and pulling a tactical retreat against assaulters. It's pretty easy to now alpha strike with Grey Knights too with the Spy Network. So if you want to try out warbands, give Coteaz a spin. There's probably a lot of ways to utilize his ability to shoot down death from the skies such as placing him at an objective, protecting weak squads from assaulters, and protecting against late contestors from reserves. Tell me what y'all think.
